Have you ever felt like life was stuck in a rut? Where today was the same as yesterday, which was the same as the day before, and so forth?
For years, I felt exactly that way. I had big dreams and ideas, and I truly believed I would see them happen someday, but the successes I had were mostly by accident rather than by design. Basically, I was just waiting for success to fall into my lap while I did little to make it happen.
Then, one day, I finally invested in myself and started seeing things change for the better.
I started small by buying some success books that gave me direction. I bought a nice journal to start taking notes when inspiration came to me. Then, I joined an online course that gave me regular times to attend sessions, so I developed a new sense of time management. Finally, I joined a coaching program with a personal success coach who helped me by being my accountability partner and holding my feet to the fire for projects, goals, and ideas I had.
Suddenly, I found myself out of the rut and into progress! By progressively increasing my investment in myself, I stopped hoping it would happen and began actively working toward my dreams. I started where I could, and as the results came in, I increased as much as possible.
Earlier, I talked about setting personal goals to help give your year focus. Now, I want to build on that by telling you to invest in yourself this year!

Start wherever you can. If all you feel you can do is just start reading a success book, then do it! Join Audible.com and listen to them on your way to and from work. If you can create your own book club with like-minded individuals, it's worth the time and adds that extra element of accountability. Find a mentor who is doing what you want to do someday and learn from them. Join an online course or even start working with a success coach.
Â
Whatever you do, do something. It's amazing how many of us spend eight bucks on a cup of coffee and twice that on a movie night but not a dime on our own success. Is it because we don't believe in ourselves, or is it because we just don't want to put in the effort?
Â
When you spend money on something, it becomes valuable to you. Buy a new laptop and you'll be protective of it. Get a new car, and you'll fight to keep every scratch off it. Likewise, spend money on making this year successful, and you'll feel differently about yourself.
Â
No matter what you may have been told in the past by others (or even yourself), you are worth the investment!
Â
This could be your best year yet! What is the next step you have to take to get started?
